Timber frame house
A timber frame house is a wooden construction in which the beams are placed vertically and at a certain distance. The spaces between the vertical posts are then filled with insulation material.
A first major advantage here is that wood itself has an insulating function. Compared to traditional masonry, a higher insulation value of the wall can be obtained with a narrower thickness of the wall by using timber frame constructions. Or in other words, to achieve the same insulation value, a traditionally built masonry wall will have to be much wider than the timber frame wall. Wider walls result in less habitable interior space.
